Allan brings to the LvanB Road to Joy team a profound depth of experience built over more than three decades at the intersection of the performing arts, commercial enterprise, and frontier technology.
His career is anchored by a singular, guiding philosophy: that the creative spark exists within all people, whether they operate in the arts, the sciences, or the corporate sector, and that inspiration must be actively sought after, nurtured, and operationalised for true growth to occur.
As an executive leader and multi-disciplinary strategist, Allan’s professional journey reads as a masterclass in versatility and scale. He has served as a General Manager, Performing Arts Manager, Director, and Treasurer, steering organisations through complex operational landscapes.
His venue leadership spans the entire live entertainment ecosystem, from intimate theatres, cultural precincts, and civic centres to massive stadium concerts, live events, festivals, and non-gallery art exhibitions.
Crucially, Allan bridges the gap between the creative and the highly technical. With a strong background in radio communications, IT management, and tech infrastructure, he has worked alongside scientists and industrialists to commercialise complex products, translating high-level tech into viable market solutions. Today, he possesses a deep, forward-looking understanding of Artificial Intelligence, tracking its direction and cultural impact to help organisations navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
His artistic portfolio is equally vast, having collaborated with creatives across almost every facet of the industry. He has supported and scaled initiatives across live music, film, online streaming, play companies, and major musical theatre productions. He has worked with writers, technical creatives, and world-class
musical ensembles, including the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, diverse choirs, and singers across all genres.
His dedication to industry sustainability is reflected in his management of Registered Training Organisations for actors, his time as a talent agent, and his work advising on arts development policies, procedures, and show creation.
Deeply committed to community and cultural legacy, Allan serves as a foundational pillar for initiatives like Alex Read Theatre Performances Inc. and its seeding of vital programs, such as the Australian Musical Theatre Artists Collective and the Play Reads Initiative Program. This lifelong dedication to community engagement and human connection is a thread that runs through his entire life, informed by early roots as a youth pastor and formal studies in cross-cultural communications and biblical history, disciplines that lend him a uniquely rounded, deeply empathetic perspective on human storytelling.
